Addiction and dependency

Alcohol

Alcohol is widely available to over 18s and very popular.  It helps make people feel relaxed and sociable and consumed in moderation can be part of a healthy lifestyle.  However, drinking too much will impair your judgment, coordination and affect your behaviour.  Drinking too much alcohol on a regular basis is addictive and can lead to very serious long-term health problems.

Smoking

Smoking is expensive, addictive and bad for your health (including your looks!).  If you are a smoker, there is lots of help available if you want to quit.  Visit Smokefree or smoking and giving up (Directgov) for advice and support.

Drugs
