The success of Connexions Berkshire depends on the involvement of young people - listening to and taking account of their views in the design and delivery of the Connexions service.
To ensure we are successful in this we have a team of Youth Participation Workers whose aims are as follows:
• Raise awareness of Connexions Berkshire and youth participation in centres, schools, colleges, youth clubs and wherever young people are.
• Design and develop methods for consulting in particular feedback from young people who are disaffected or with diverse needs, reflecting the full range of the community.
• Work with partner agencies to encourage participation and involvement in governance, for example vinvolved and Youth Parliament.
• Develop and manage local Berkshire-wide youth consultation systems i.e. forums/councils/surveys/one to one work.
• Feedback and regularly report to Connexions Managers, Local Management Committees, Connexions Board and ultimately the Chief Executive, in developing, monitoring and evaluating the success of the work.
• Encourage, empower and train young people to contribute their ideas and views.
We have two dedicated Youth Participation Workers; Rob and Shaun who work throughout Berkshire.
Rob is working within West Berkshire, Reading and Wokingham and Shaun is working in Bracknell, Slough and Windsor & Maidenhead.
